Film 116 Final project

There wasn't really a theme to my final project except trying to combine all 4 of my recent drifts into a singal piece while still keeping with my mechanical and make you want to see more strategies.

West Virginia's Mothman

I was in West Virginia recently and stumbled across this...the Mothman is a legend from the late sixties in the town of Point Pleseant.
I used the sound of a drum partly because i wasn't going for a suspenseful theme but a corny funny theme which the legend itself seems to imply.
Have no fear the drum sound is recorded with my mini dv. The drummer was really good and had no objections to letting me record him play a random beat.

Harmony

For this clip I tried to show the inner workings of a car engine from different perspective than we usually take to look under our hoods. I'm always fasinated by the harmony of the parts of an engine that work fluidly atexact times down to the mili-second. I used my car because it's loud enough to record every small detail of the engine as opposed to a small stock engine.

The Mechanism of life

For this video I used cars as a metaphor for life. I filmed and photographed the similarities between what cars do and what people do. Unfortunately I couldn't fit all my footage in the video because of time constraints.

The Kill

For this video I used one of my best friend's house and backyard. I wanted to give the feel that someone: such as an old enemy, or a derranged killer, maybe even an escaped convict; was slowly moving into the house to lie in wait.
I used my friend Dans house and yard primarily because I love the feel of his backyard. It's large and open, full of life and plants. But this time of year much of the plant life is dead giving a spooky sort of feel.
I hope you enjoy this first of many.

Strategy

My strategy for this drift consists of collecting 2 themes for my audio and visual captures. The first consists of images that leave you wanting to see more combined with organic sounds. (ie: heart beat, ringing in the ear, heavy breathing, etc...)
My second theme is the capturing of mechanical sounds, stills, and video. (ie: cars, engines, compressers, jets, power tools, and so on)
